Excerpts from A Psychology of Love and True Success:
|
 | A Psychology of Love "Emotions and associated waking and dreaming thoughts are signals
to us about safety and danger. Circumstances in the present may
not be dangerous at all; yet if they seem like previously
experienced dangerous situations, then we may experience the emotions
of danger; ie, anxiety, fear, anger, and depression."

| | | True Success "Competition is probably the result of both biological and
socially shaped (learned) influences.----There is a natural
tendency for every child to not only want to feel appreciated
and affirmed but also to want to be more appreciated and more
special than everyone else (especially more than brothers and
sisters). This wish may drive us to incredible competition with
one another, always with ever increasing stakes. The only relief
from this "rat race" is to discover that we all have a unique specialness
which does not depend upon being the best or better than anyone else."
